Is it too much to ask for dancing cows in a butter sculpture? |
The New York State Fair is back until Labor Day and I can barely contain my excitement. Ok. I am controlling it but only because I know that in a few days I will walk that midway, smell those cows and eat those italian sausage sandwiches and of course, view the most spectacular of all: The Butter Sculpture.
I am not sure exactly when this became an obsession of mine. I would like to think when it came to creating sculptures of butter I was a trendsetter. Although this year's theme helps to promote food pantries, (a wonderful thing) it lacks that....oh I don't know, buttery depth-defying-gravity design the sculptures have had in the past. Not to say that the work isn't complimentary, but I think if you're given several thousand pounds of butter to sculpt, a few dancing cows, perhaps a refrigerator filled with ingredients and a smiling ice cream cone is not too much to ask.
But then again there's always the sand sculpture.
Enjoy the fair
